We wish to appoint several highly motivated Clerks to provide effective administrative support to the Local Governing Bodies of several schools within the Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide effective administrative support to the local governing body, which involves preparing agendas in consultation with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher, taking and writing up the minutes and distributing documentation and other information to Governors.
  • Effectively manage information and administer meetings.
  • Provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.
  • Ensure the governing body is correctly constituted.
  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements, including becoming familiar with the DfE’s Governance Handbook.

At Ventrus Multi Academy Trust, we believe a Clerk to the Local Governing Body plays a critical role. You need to be a highly organised person with attention to detail. You will have general administration experience such as minute taking and meeting organisation and be able to demonstrate a diplomatic approach to communication. Specific training on governance within a MAT will be provided through support from the Senior Executive Assistant.

Local Governing Body meetings take place on site in the relevant school or virtually via Microsoft Teams, mostly in the evenings. The role can be carried out from home, so it is essential therefore that the Clerk has access to a computer/laptop and internet. Attendance is required at four local governing body meetings per year per school/LGB, plus additional online Clerks meetings, as required.

To apply for this role please submit your application online; your supporting statement should outline your suitability for the post.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 29th November 2023, interviews will be held virtually on Tuesday 5th December 2023.

All shortlisted applicants will be subject to an online search.

Ventrus Multi Academy Trust require all applicants to be eligible to work in the UK with no restrictions, as we are unable to offer sponsorship/work visas. You will be required to provide proof of Right to Work at interview stage.
